What is a barcamp?

A barcamp, sometimes called an unconference, is defined by the fact that there’s no pre-set programme. Instead, everyone present can contribute their experience, knowledge and ideas by proposing sessions. Sessions can take many different formats – beyond “traditional” talks, they can be discussion rounds, creative workshops, collaborative coding sessions, and much more.

In the broadest sense, sessions are comparable to talk slots at conferences. But they can take very different formats. Beyond “traditional” presentations, sessions can also be discussion rounds, creative workshops, collaborative coding sessions, and much more.

A brilliant format is the so-called Ask-Session. Instead of presenting knowledge yourself, you pose questions. For example: “What makes a good prompt?” or “What experiences have you had with different LLMs like Mistral, Gemini, Claude, etc.?” The attendees then provide the answers. This often leads to many follow-up questions and lively exchange.

A session lasts 45 minutes.

In this Google Doc, you find the sessions from the 3rdAI Camp Würzburg (July 4th, 2025).

Anyone excited about AI who wants to share their knowledge and experiences with others. This includes:

  • Enthusiastic users who love trying out tools or diving deeper into ChatGPT & Co.
  • Start-ups or aspiring founders
  • Creatives who (want to) take their business to the next level
  • Freelancers
  • Developers
  • Students from all disciplines

Both are barcamps:

  • Bar-Code (12 March) focuses on software development.
  • AI Camp on Friday, 13 March, focuses on artificial intelligence and everything connected to it.
